Job summary

NWRPros seeks a Director of Intellectual Property in Seattle to lead global patent strategy for its biotech portfolio. You will manage IP matters, counsel senior leadership, and coordinate outside IP counsel across domestic and international jurisdictions.

The ideal candidate has 8+ years in IP/patent law within biotech/pharma, with deep life sciences technical competency and business partner acumen. Hybrid work in Seattle/ Vancouver is offered.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of intellectual property/patent law experience, including 5+ years in biotech/pharma/life sciences
• Detailed understanding of US and foreign patent prosecution, including USPTO filings and international portfolios
• Experience supporting Business Development and Legal reviewing agreements with business partners and service providers
• Understanding of healthcare ecosystem, regulatory landscapes and therapeutic areas such as GI, immunology, and specialty therapeutics
• Proven ability to influence leadership in a fast-paced, regulated environment with strong collaboration and communication skills
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement patent portfolio strategies for global product candidates and platform technologies
• Lead external counsel in drafting, filing and prosecuting worldwide patent applications and manage patent lifecycles
• Coordinate freedom-to-operate analyses and monitor IP landscape to inform risk and opportunities
• Support business development, financing, licensing, and collaborations with IP diligence and terms negotiation
• Maintain trademark portfolio and IP-related governance, policies, and staff training
