Job summary

Johnson & Johnson MedTech is seeking an Associate Director, R&D Process Development in New Jersey. The role will design, optimize, and scale manufacturing processes for biosurgical devices, leading a multi‑disciplinary team and partnering with Regulatory, Quality, and Manufacturing.

You will own technology strategy, transfer to manufacturing, and ensure compliant documentation while mentoring engineers. Expect a hybrid schedule with on‑site work three days a week and relocation assistance for

Qualifications

• PhD in Chemical Engineering or a closely related field is required.
• 10+ years in process development, scale‑up, and manufacturing transfer with a strong engineering foundation.
• 3+ years of people leadership leading multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience in polymer synthesis, purification, lyophilization, milling or related medical device processes.
• Familiarity with product development lifecycle, design controls and quality systems.

Responsibilities

• Drive end‑to‑end process development for biosynthetic medical device products from lab to scale‑up.
• Develop scalable manufacturing processes meeting cost, quality and schedule targets.
• Translate roadmaps into stage‑gate plans with resource allocation and milestones.
• Collaborate with Formulation, Operations, Manufacturing and Quality teams on equipment and processes.
• Establish KPIs and drive continuous improvement for process performance.
• Lead design for manufacturability and support technology transfer to production.
