Job summary

CSL is seeking an Associate Director, Research Biostatistics to provide strategic statistical leadership across discovery and translational programs. You will design studies, perform advanced analyses, and develop innovative methods in R to support portfolio decisions.

The role demands a PhD with 8+ years of experience in pharma/biotech settings, a strong track record in translational statistics, and the ability to mentor junior staff while publishing and presenting methodological work.

Qualifications

• PhD in Statistics, Biostatistics, or equivalent.
• 8+ years applying statistics in pre-clinical pharma, biotech, healthcare, or biomedical research.
• Proven track record with advanced statistical methods for omics, imaging, or translational data.
• Experience with modern statistical programming, reproducible workflows.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic statistical leadership across discovery, translational, and early research programs.
• Lead complex analyses across preclinical to human datasets using Bayesian, causal, ML methods.
• Develop reproducible workflows and analytical solutions in R and related platforms.
• Support biomarker evaluation, translational evidence-generation, and portfolio decisions.
• Translate data into actionable insights for target evaluation and candidate selection.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including bioinformatics, PK/PD, and data management.
• Contribute to scientific publications, ethics submissions, and external collaborations.
• Mentor statisticians and scientists, fostering excellence and continuous learning.
• Promote data-driven decisions and statistical best practices across the organization.
• Manage relationships with external partners and CROs to ensure high-quality outcomes.
