Job summary

UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, TX seeks a skilled Biostatistics/Statistical Consultant to provide complex statistical consultation for faculty, staff, and students within the Biostatistics and Data Science Core. The role involves clinical trials, observational studies, and analyses using EHR data, claims, and registries.

Experience with large datasets such as MarketScan or Epic Cosmos is highly desirable.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in biostatistics or related discipline or MPH with biostatistics concentration
  • At least 5 years of experience in statistical consulting, preferably in biomedical/healthcare environments
  • Working knowledge of SAS, SPSS or other major statistical packages and MS Office (Access and Excel)

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with investigators to identify problems and provide statistical consultation, including design of experiments/surveys, data analysis, interpretation, and report preparation
  • Write statistical portions of manuscripts and address revisions from reviewers
  • Assist client data organization and perform statistical computations
  • Provide graphical and tabular representations and develop reusable programs
  • Collaborate on grant development including statistical design of studies and grant proposals
  • Explain statistical concepts in non-technical terms and help researchers clarify issues

Job Summary

Works under general direction to provide complex statistical consultation for faculty, staff, and students.

This position supports statistical design, analysis, interpretation, and reporting across a broad range of clinical and translational research projects within the Biostatistics and Data Science Core (BDSC). The role involves clinical trials, prospective and observational studies, and research using electronic health record, administrative claims, registry, and other real-world data. Experience with clinical trials, machine learning, and large scale electronic health data sources such as MarketScan, TriNetX, Epic Cosmos, or similar platforms is highly desirable.

Required
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
  • Education Master's Degree In biostatistics or related discipline, or MPH with a concentration in biostatistics
  • Experience 5 years Experience in statistical consulting with preference given to experience working in biomedical or health care environment and Requires working knowledge of SAS, SPSS or other major statistical package (S+, R, etc.) and Microsoft Office (ACCESS and EXCEL).
Job Duties
  • Collaborates with investigators to identify problems and provide statistical consultation including design of experiments of survey, analysis of data, interpretation of results and preparation of reports.
  • Writes statistical portion of manuscript based on results of analysis and address manuscript revisions based on reviewer's comments.
  • Assists client data organization.
  • Performs statistical computations.
  • Provides graphical and tabular representations.
  • Develops, maintains and modifies programs for in-house use.
  • Collaborates with investigators in grant development including statistical design of studies and preparation of statistical portion of grant proposal.
  • Performs non-statistical components of consulting such as providing analogous examples and explanations using non-technical terminology, and helping researchers formulate and clarify research issues.
  • Visits client's work field whenever possible to establish rapport and to become familiar with and interested in client's research and data.
  • Keeps current in statistical methods and computing skills; researches to find techniques for non-standard statistical analyses.
  • May supervise biostatistical consultants and/or data entry operators.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
