Responsibilities

  • Sample Intake & Triage: Receive, open, and triage incoming sample shipments, directing them to testing locations.
  • Accessioning & QC: Perform sample accessioning and quality control of demographic data entry.
  • Client Communication: Serve as contact for clients regarding held or rejected samples.
  • Labeling & Documentation: Execute labeling and final quality checks for accuracy.
  • Pathology Support: Image stained slides and ensure deliverables meet timelines.
  • Logistics Coordination: Manage internal and client requests, including global shipments.
  • Operational Management: Oversee team inbox and track requests.
  • Process Improvement: Lead improvement workstreams within BioSample Management Group.
  • General Support: Perform additional duties as assigned.

Job description

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM

Location: 100% Onsite

Overtime: May be required based on business needs

The Opportunity

We are seeking a reliable, detail-oriented professional to join our team as a Biospecimen Coordinator. This role is essential to daily operations, ensuring that sample shipments are processed, triaged, and tracked with high precision. You will be instrumental in maintaining accurate chain of custody and supporting various workflow improvements within the BioSample Management Group.

You will work as part of a team of 11 people and support sample management, shipment tracking, and workflow improvements within the BioSample Management Group.

Core Responsibilities
  • Sample Intake & Triage: Receive, open, and triage incoming sample shipments, directing them to the appropriate testing locations.
  • Accessioning & QC: Perform sample accessioning and conduct quality control checks on demographic data entry to ensure accuracy.
  • Client Communication: Serve as a point of contact for clients regarding held or rejected samples, resolving issues promptly.
  • Labeling & Documentation: Execute sample labeling and perform final quality control checks to verify labeling accuracy.
  • Pathology Support: Image stained slides returned from Pathology, ensuring all deliverables are met within established timelines.
  • Logistics Coordination: Manage internal and client requests, including global sample shipments, while maintaining rigorous chain of custody standards.
  • Operational Management: Oversee the team inbox to ensure all requests are tracked and completed.
  • Process Improvement: Lead and drive deliverables for assigned process improvement workstreams within the BioSample Management Group.
  • General Support: Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Who You Are
  • Experience: 0-5 years of relevant experience.
  • Problem Solver: Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues effectively.
  • Communication Skills: Clear, professional communicator, both verbally and in writing.
  • Detail-Oriented: Meticulous approach to work with a high standard for quality.
  • Multitasker: Able to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Organization: Strong organizational skills.
  • Technology: Comfortable using Microsoft applications, Excel, and Google.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Sample management experience is highly preferred.
  • Laboratory experience or background is desired.
  • Prior knowledge or experience with sample tracking software is a plus.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment.
Education
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Open to fresh graduates and academic experience.
  • Master's or PhD is overqualified.
