City of St. Joseph is seeking a Bio Solids Operator to operate belt filter presses, the bio solids dryer and related systems in the Water Protection division of Public Works & Transportation.

Responsible for the operation of two belt filter presses, bio solids dryer and vacuum conveyance system. Coordinates with the Operations Manager on compliance with fertilizer/soil conditioner program. The bio-solids system is a highly technical and complicated set of equipment that is unique in complexity to the process. Limited supervisory responsibility. No budgetary responsibility.
Bio Solids Operators will assist in the developing of subordinates by coaching, training, guiding, and mentoring.

Including but not limited to hand tools, safety equipment, power tools, scissor lift, track loader and forklift. There may be times when use of personal vehicle may be required.
Work is performed under a variety of conditions, including indoor work with a controlled environment, indoor work under extreme heat and outside tasks performed under a variety of extreme conditions such as cold, heat, windy and wet. Exposed to hazards such as electrical shock, dust, noise, vibration and chemicals. Must be able to stand for long periods. Requires period of bending, climbing, kneeling, crawling and other physical activities. Routinely lifts objects weighing up to thirty pounds. Occasionally lift objects weighing as much as sixty pounds or assist in lifting objects weighing in excess of 100 pounds. Some overnight or day travel may be required for business purposes. Vacation and other leave scheduling shall be requested of and approved by the appropriate supervisor.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
