Job summary

Helix BioStructures, based in Indianapolis, Indiana, seeks a Scientist focused on biophysical characterization. You will design and execute experiments to define protein quality, stability, and binding, covering a broad technique stack.

The role blends hands-on protein expression with client-facing reporting and data interpretation. The ideal candidate has a PhD (or related advanced degree) with hands-on experience in SPR, ITC, MST, DSF/nanoDSF, SEC-MALS, SAXS, or related methods, plus strong

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in biochemistry, biophysics, molecular biology, protein engineering, or a related field; OR a Master's with 2-5 years of industrial experience; OR a Bachelor's with 5-10 years of industrial experience.
• Demonstrated hands-on competency across multiple biophysical techniques, with independent experience on at least three of SPR, BLI, ITC, MST, DSF/nanoDSF, SEC-MALS, DLS, AUC, CD, Mass Photometry, or SAXS.
• Demonstrated ability to determine binding affinities and kinetic constants and to defend the resulting numbers, including appropriate controls, replicates, and error analysis.

Responsibilities

• Run biophysical characterization workstreams across a broad technique stack, designing and executing experiments for purity, homogeneity, oligomeric state, stability, and binding.
• Express and purify recombinant proteins to feed biophysics work and support client projects.
• Write technical project reports and present results on client calls; interact with clients in a professional, scientific manner.
