Job summary

Kelly Services is seeking a Project Engineer (Process) to support a top global biopharmaceutical client in the Barceloneta, PR area. You will act as the owner’s representative for process equipment installation, coordinating the GC’s execution and overseeing permit-to-work in a 24/7 GMP facility.

You will engage in design reviews, field walkdowns, and handover activities, ensuring safety, quality, and schedule alignment while supporting commissioning and startup of the process systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Biomedical, or Mechanical Engineering.
• 2–5 years of pharma/biotech or industrial capital projects experience.
• Experience with brownfield construction in an operating facility and permit-to-work systems.
• Working familiarity with biologics process systems including buffer prep/hold tanks, CIP/SIP tie‑ins and hygienic piping.
• GMP awareness and ability to coordinate within an active 24/7 manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Serves as Customer’s owner-side representative for the process equipment package during brownfield construction; oversees the General Contractor and its subcontractors.
• Owns permit-to-work coordination and issuance for process construction activities within the facility; enforces segregation from live manufacturing.
• Performs field walkdowns, inspections, and punch-list development ensuring work matches design and site standards.
• Supports construction safety evaluations and site safety plan adherence for process activities.
• Acts as liaison between the GC, A/E, site operations, and process Lead to avoid production disruption.
• Supports review of A/E deliverables and GC submittals for alignment with standards.
• Maintains as-built documentation and tracks issues and schedule; escalates as needed.
• Supports commissioning, turnover, and startup for process equipment; assists with field troubleshooting.
• Coordinates vendor equipment installation and witnesses field activities.
• Supports FAT/SAT and process commissioning activities.
