Job summary
Merck & Co. is seeking a Service Automation Controls Engineer to support, troubleshoot, and improve automation solutions used in biopharmaceutical manufacturing and laboratory environments.
You will work with PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, and industrial networks to resolve issues and document testing activities. You will partner with Service, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to ensure solutions meet safety, quality, and business requirements, and to develop test protocols, qualifications, and
Qualifications
- 3–5+ years of automation, controls, or service engineering experience in biopharmaceutical, life sciences, or regulated environments.
- Strong knowledge of PLC programming, HMI/SCADA configuration, and industrial controls.
- Experience with automation platforms and tools such as Allen‑Bradley, Siemens, DeltaV, and related software.
- Ability to interpret engineering documentation, test plans, and qualification protocols.
Responsibilities
- Provide advanced troubleshooting and technical support for automation controls and related systems.
- Program, configure, and support PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, and related I/O systems.
- Develop and validate test protocols, qualification documents, and engineering evaluations.
- Ensure compliance with quality systems and regulatory requirements (cGMP, 21 CFR Part 11, ISO).
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to resolve issues and drive improvements.
