Biomedical Field Service Technician - Job Description

This is an opportunity to join the creation of a new field service department for a pioneer in the medical industry. This role initially will focus on an established clientele in the greater Chicago area. As the business expands in the region, it will eventually service and cater to neighboring states touching Illinois.

Essential Responsibilities:

1. Identify, analyze, and execute required service orders including repairs, planned maintenance, and installations in the assigned service territory.
2. Understand company service contracts and ensure maintenance and services are performed according to those plans if in place.
3. Follow all relevant technical procedures per QSR requirements.
4. Provide consistent ongoing support to key customers through technical phone support, product installation, and field service support.
5. Provide product feedback on issues/trends observed in the field and assist in developing solutions.
6. Report deviations from established product quality standards and specifications to the appropriate in-house team members.
7. Report delays in scheduled service to the Supervisor, Field Service for escalation.
8. Ensure all paperwork, emails, vendor credentialing, expense reports, and training are accurate and up to date; maintain tools, supplies, parts, etc.
9. Report all complaints discovered in the field according to quality system requirements.
10. Attend product-specific training when required.
11. Promote acquisition of service agreements by advising customers on available services.

Back-up Responsibilities:

1. Decontaminate devices and accessories as necessary for all returned equipment.
2. Check and repair foot switches, lavage pumps, and other accessories/devices as directed.
3. Relocate products to proper technical service locations as needed.

Travel:

This position requires extensive travel in conjunction with field service demands, including trade shows, courses, and key customer accounts. Some international travel may be included as training needs dictate. The travel rate is up to 75%.
