Position Details

Note: This position is contingent upon contract award and will be located onsite in the southeast, southwest, or central United States. Travel will likely be required.

Responsibilities
  1. Inspect, maintain, adjust, calibrate, and repair a variety of electronic, electromechanical, and hydraulic equipment, including patient monitors, defibrillators, medical imaging equipment (X-rays, CT scanners, ultrasound), voice-controlled operating tables, electric wheelchairs, and other sophisticated dental, optometric, and ophthalmic equipment.
  2. Perform routine scheduled maintenance to ensure all equipment functions properly.
  3. Conduct safety checks and train practitioners on the safe operation of equipment.
  4. Disassemble equipment to identify malfunctions or inaccuracies, repair or replace defective parts, reassemble, and adjust components.
  5. Notify manufacturers or distributors of uncorrectable malfunctions to arrange repairs.
  6. Maintain detailed records of equipment checks, maintenance, and repairs.
  7. Manage inventories and record supplies and parts.
  8. Work near patients, avoiding disturbances.
  9. Document issues, work performed, and any system or configuration changes.
  10. Participate in meetings and task forces to improve quality, communicate issues, obtain approvals, and stay informed on new developments and policies.
  11. Understand and practice the principles of the American Hospital Association's Bill of Rights for patients.
  12. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience as a Biomedical Equipment Technician.
  • Diploma, certificate, or an associate degree in Biomedical Equipment Technology or Engineering; military training certifications (e.g., 4A2X1, 68A, HM-8478) also accepted.
  • Experience with CT scanners and similar sophisticated equipment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, maintaining professionalism.
  • Proficiency with computers, office equipment, and MS Office.
  • Flexibility to adapt to sudden changes and potential shift work based on operational needs.
  • Strong problem-solving skills for researching and resolving inquiries promptly.
Physical Requirements and Work Conditions
  • Work is typically performed in an interior/office environment.
  • Prolonged sitting and standing are involved.
