Job summary

Aretum in Illinois seeks a Biomedical Equipment Technician – Info/Sys to maintain and secure networked medical equipment, perform preventive and corrective maintenance, conduct inspections, and support clinical staff to ensure patient safety and high care standards.

The ideal candidate brings strong networking skills, experience with Cerner, and the ability to collaborate with IT and cybersecurity teams on device security, software updates, and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Two-year associate degree or higher in an applied science or equivalent.
• Minimum three years hospital or healthcare experience with at least one year in medical information systems and networking.
• Knowledge of computer virus protection software, security tools, electronics and network theory.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance on networked medical equipment to ensure safety and reliability.
• Diagnose and repair malfunctions following manufacturer guidelines.
• Inspect new equipment for safety, functionality and accuracy.
• Collaborate with IT and cybersecurity teams to implement device security protocols.
• Install, calibrate, and configure medical devices per manufacturer instructions.
• Address hazard recalls and coordinate resolutions with vendors and departments.
• Perform software repairs and updates to ensure compatibility with systems.
• Maintain maintenance records using CMMS.
• Provide training to staff on proper operation of networked equipment.
