Job summary

Atrium Health in Shelby, NC seeks a Biomedical Equipment Technician to troubleshoot, maintain, and repair non-imaging diagnostic and therapeutic medical devices using standard electronic test equipment.

Responsibilities include installation, calibration, and testing of new devices, as well as maintenance, inspections, recalls, and equipment disposition. Mentoring interns and collaborating with staff are expected parts of the role.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Six months experience in electronic, mechanical, or electro-mechanical repair in a school or on-the-job setting.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair non-imaging diagnostic and therapeutic medical devices using standard electronic test equipment.
• Install, calibrate, and test new medical electronic devices and systems; escalate questions beyond scope to appropriate staff/vendor resources.
• Complete planned and corrective maintenance, cyber-patching, incoming inspections, recalls, and equipment disposition tasks.
• Provide operational and technical advice on equipment to medical and clinical staff; interact with clinical staff to ensure needs are met.
• Act as a technical resource and mentor for Biomedical students (interns).
• Order repair services and spare parts as needed; maintain records of inspections, repairs, and adjustments; liaise with manufacturers’ representatives for service information.
• Participate in internal and external educational programs to maintain current technical aptitude.
