Job summary

Carter BloodCare is seeking a Biomedical Equipment Technician to ensure all collection equipment is available, clean, and operational per manufacturer specifications. Under the QAPI Coordinator, you will maintain and repair a wide range of equipment used daily.

The BET will manage equipment files, document critical activities, and assist with on-the-job training of new hires. Overtime and occasional float to other areas may be required; shift is Monday–Friday, 1:30 pm–10:00 pm.

Qualifications

  • 1 year of experience with equipment installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, record management, and repairs.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and meet CBC driver guidelines.
  • Ability to troubleshoot a wide range of electronic and mechanical equipment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; strong documentation skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and repair Carter BloodCare equipment to ensure availability and compliance with manufacturer specifications.
  • Document all maintenance activities accurately and timely; manage equipment files and labeling.
  • Assist with on-the-job training of new hires and incumbent staff as requested.
  • May perform training and/or development of staff as needed.
  • Ability to work overtime and float to other areas; regular attendance Monday–Friday, 1:30 pm–10:00 pm.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITYUnder direction of the QAPI Coordinator, the Biomedical Equipment Technician (BET) is responsible for ensuring that all Collection’s equipment is available for use and in accordance with the manufacturer specifications, is clean and operational for daily use. This position is responsible for the maintenance and repair of a wide range of equipment, including specific medical laboratory and industrial equipment.This position effectively manages equipment and equipment files by documenting all critical activities accurately and timely and assists in controlling costs. The BET uses meticulous and logical record management of existing management systems. This position assists with the management of critical equipment files, properly files and labels equipment and equipment files for storage and communicates and assists with departmental needs. The BET may perform training and/ or assist with on-the-job development of new hire employees and incumbent staff as requested.This position requires the ability to work overtime and/or float to other areas, as needed.
