Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a Biomed Technician to join the Clinical Engineering team in Central Jersey. The role involves preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of medical equipment to ensure patient safety and equipment reliability.

The position is Full-Time Day shift with travel through Central Jersey and on-call requirements. You will document work, follow manufacturer guidelines, and collaborate with senior staff.

Qualifications

• Minimum Associate in Applied Science (AAS) in Biomedical Engineering, Electronics Engineering Technology, or equivalent work/military experience in Biomedical Engineering.
• 0-3 years hands-on biomedical engineering or related technical field experience.
• Preferred: knowledge of electromechanical components, manufacturer certification, and eligibility for AAMI/ICC certification.

Responsibilities

• Performing preventive maintenance inspections on medical equipment appropriate to your training and experience.
• Prioritize inspections of higher-risk equipment and complete work within timeframes.
• Respond to service requests, troubleshoot and repair equipment within your proficiency.
• Use electronic test equipment and assess whether component- or circuit-board-level repairs are appropriate.
• Identify unsafe equipment or conditions and notify management.
• Assist with preventive maintenance procedures per manufacturer guidelines.
• Maintain parts and supplies to minimize downtime.
• Document service, inspections, and repairs in the biomedical equipment database.
• Inspect new devices for safety, compliance, and proper function.
• Gather device information, service manuals, and operator manuals for servicing.
• Assist with recalls and FDA device alerts.
