The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a Biomedical Equipment Support Specialist to provide clinical and administrative support for networked medical equipment. This role requires a strong educational background in biomedical technology or related fields, as well as experience in healthcare settings. The specialist will manage projects, maintain equipment, and ensure compliance with cybersecurity standards.
The Biomedical Equipment Support Specialist (BESS) (Biomedical Information Systems) provides clinical and administrative support to staff, patients, and administrators for all matters related to facility-wide lifecycle management of networks, networked medical equipment, and associated systems.

Basic Requirements:
Grade Determinations: Biomedical Equipment Support Specialist (Information Systems), GS-12.
(1) Experience: One year of creditable experience at the GS-11 level or equivalent.
(2) Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Demonstrate knowledge of HL7 and DICOM standards; advanced troubleshooting skills for networked medical equipment; skills in maintaining medical equipment, databases, and software; project management skills involving clinical systems; application of cybersecurity standards; use of information security tools; and establishing medical networks including VLAN configuration, IP addressing, and security.

The full performance level is GS-12. The actual grade for selection is GS-12.
Physical Requirements: The work involves standing, lifting, carrying, sitting, stooping, bending, pulling, and pushing. PPE may be required, along with annual TB screening or testing as a condition of employment.
