Job summary

Northside Hospital Inc. seeks a Biomedical Engineering Supervisor to oversee repair and maintenance of diagnostic and therapeutic medical equipment and to administer the Medical Equipment Management Program in accordance with TJC standards.

You will evaluate service contracts, coordinate equipment procurement input, and schedule and develop staff to meet department targets. Strong leadership and communication are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in biomedical or related engineering with 7 years hospital biomedical engineering experience OR Bachelor's degree with 5 years biomedical engineering experience.
• Vendor certified trainings in maintenance of ventilators, anesthesia machines and other complex medical equipment.
• Leadership/supervisory experience with strong listening/organizational and communication skills to interact with hospital staff at all levels.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct supervision to assigned staff in a diplomatic, fair, consistent, and professional manner.
• Maintains knowledge of each staff member's position and stays current on department systems.
• Handles orientation/training for staff and ensures ongoing skill development and cross-training.
• Assists in staff selection, including interviewing.
• Sets staff work schedules and monitors attendance; discusses corrective actions when needed.
• Sets targets for individuals and areas; develops action plans with the director and ensures productivity goals are met.
• Supports communication with staff through meetings and other channels to ensure timely information.
• Recommends changes to policies, procedures and department workflow.
• Ensures adequate supplies and inventory for efficient operations; maintains software backups.
• Performs hands-on technician work as needed and takes on-call duty when required.
