U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs in Durham, NC seeks a Biomedical Engineer for the Healthcare Technology Management Service.

The role focuses on advising the Chief HTM on engineering principles, medical equipment management, safety, and lifecycle decisions across construction, renovation, and activation projects. The incumbent will coordinate planning through activation, develop equipment lists, support acquisitions, and lead HTM projects with clinical stakeholders.

Competenze

• Bachelor's degree in engineering from ABET-accredited program.
• Certification as a Certified Clinical Engineer (CCE) is preferred or may be required per grandfathering provisions.
• Experience at the GS-12 level or higher in biomedical engineering or HTM.
• Ability to lead medical equipment management programs and safety compliance.
• Knowledge of healthcare standards and regulatory agencies.

• Serve as HTM subject-matter resource for medical technology infrastructure planning, installation, relocation, and activation.
• Translate clinical requirements into space, utility, environmental, installation, and maintenance-access needs.
• Coordinate planning through design, construction, installation, acceptance testing, activation, and transition to operations.
• Develop standardized medical technology infrastructure requirements and activation practices across projects and clinical areas.
• Develop and maintain equipment lists, room equipment schedules, and installation requirements.
• Coordinate equipment selection, standardization, replacement, and lifecycle decisions with stakeholders.
• Provide biomedical engineering technical support to acquisition and contract administration for equipment/installation services.
• Lead HTM technical projects for medical technology planning and activation, coordinating HTM, Engineering/Facilities Management, cybersecurity, and support teams.
• Document readiness findings and elevate unresolved installation-readiness issues before activation.
