• Serves as Deputy Chief for the Healthcare Technology Management Service, providing leadership, management, and strategic direction for biomedical engineering operations within the Healthcare System.
• Advises HTM Chief on biomedical engineering principles, healthcare technology management, medical device integration, and clinical systems operations.
• Oversees daily operations of medical equipment and networked clinical systems to ensure regulatory compliance and alignment with Veterans Health Administration directives.
• Manages operation, performance, optimization, and maintenance of imaging networks, clinical databases, and related healthcare technologies, including troubleshooting and corrective actions.
• Develops protocols for clinical data transmission, image management, archiving, storage capacity planning, and quality management to ensure data integrity and availability.
• Coordinates installation, maintenance, software support, upgrades, repairs, and QA activities for HTM systems across the organization.

Summary

The Deputy Chief of Healthcare Technology Management (HTM) supports the Chief HTM service at VA Western New York Healthcare System. The staff Biomedical Engineers and Biomedical Equipment Support Specialist (Biomedical Information Systems) will directly report to the Deputy Chief of HTM. The Deputy Chief of HTM assists the Chief with the management of the HTM service and the medical equipment life cycle at VA Western New York Healthcare System.

Duties

• Serves as the Deputy Chief for the Healthcare Technology Management Service, assisting in the leadership, management, and strategic direction of biomedical engineering operations across the Healthcare System.
• Acts as a senior advisor to the HTM Chief on biomedical engineering principles, healthcare technology management, medical device integration, and clinical systems operations.
• Oversees daily activities associated with medical equipment and networked clinical systems, ensuring optimal functionality, regulatory compliance, and alignment with Veterans Health Administration directives and policies.
• Manages the operation, performance, optimization, and maintenance of medical imaging networks, clinical databases, and associated healthcare technologies, including troubleshooting system failures and implementing corrective actions.
• Develops and maintains protocols for clinical data transmission, image management, archiving, storage capacity planning, and quality management processes to ensure integrity and availability of clinical information.
• Coordinates installation, maintenance, software support, upgrades, repairs, and quality assurance activities for healthcare technology systems throughout the organization.
