Job summary

Cerapedics is seeking a Development Engineer to join its Westminster office, focusing on biomaterial development, coating processes, and technology transfer for bone graft solutions. You will design and evaluate new products, prototype materials, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate innovations into scalable production.

Qualifications

• Experience with ceramics-based biomaterials.
• Experience with protein coating.
• Experience with freeze-drying instrumentation and applications.
• Experience with analytical instrumentation.
• Experience with bone graft materials is a plus.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Solid analytical knowledge of biomaterials.
• Excellent communication skills – both written and oral.
• Ability to work independently, plan, and prioritize.

Responsibilities

• Develop unique methods to process ceramic materials to generate a portfolio of potential materials with significant diversity in characteristics and surface properties.
• Acquire and analyze a diverse portfolio of soft tissue materials to identify unique properties to serve as platform for potential new products.
• Enhance and develop coating processes including coating of peptides.
• Collaborate with Commercial to configure hard and soft components into a portfolio of product configurations.
• Develop unique test methods to demonstrate the required product properties.
• Produce a series of prototype product configurations for field testing.
• Optimize processing (design for manufacturing) for new products.
• Represent R&D in all stage-gate decisions on new product pathways.
• Develop Quality release testing for new products.
• Perform as SME for technology transfer and scale-up activities.
• Design, execute, and evaluate process trials and performance testing; document results and standardize improvements.
