Job summary

Atlantic Power & Utilities is hiring a Fuel Handler in Harleyville, SC. You will operate fuel and ash handling equipment, unload and stage fuel, perform routine maintenance, and maintain logs while ensuring a clean, safe work environment.

This role requires good communication and the ability to work independently as well as on a team. The position includes shift work, potential travel to other plants, and adherence to all health and safety policies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid Driver's License.
• Minimum 1 year experience in heavy equipment operation and maintenance; biomass or solid fuels preferred.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good communication skills are essential.
• Willingness to travel to other plant locations and to corporate offices.
• Knowledge of equipment isolation and LOTO procedures preferred.
• Knowledge of plant safety equipment is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Operate fuel and ash handling equipment safely and efficiently.
• Receive, unload, mix, stage, and store fuel per procedures.
• Perform preventive maintenance and minor repairs on mobile equipment.
• Maintain accurate operational logs and good housekeeping.
• Respond to alarms and assist with safety procedures.
• Oversee and assist other crafts on shift as needed.
• Attend trainings and meetings; pursue personal development goals.
