Job summary

Scholar Rock seeks an accomplished Principal Scientist, Biomarker Development, to provide scientific leadership for biomarker strategy across neuromuscular preclinical programs.

Reporting to the Senior Director, Head of Biomarker Development, this role drives discovery, development, and implementation of fit-for-purpose biomarker approaches enabling translation from discovery through early clinical development.

Qualifications

• PhD in skeletal muscle biology, immunology, neuroscience, pharmacology, or related discipline.
• 8+ years in biotech/pharma R&D with biomarker discovery/development.
• Experience implementing biomarker strategies for drug discovery and preclinical development.
• Working knowledge of immunoassays, bioinformatics, imaging, flow cytometry, and molecular assays.
• Experience managing CROs and external labs.

Responsibilities

• Develop and lead biomarker strategies for neuromuscular preclinical programs.
• Serve as biomarker subject matter expert on cross-functional teams.
• Guide assay development and data generation for biomarkers.
• Interpret biomarker data and inform program strategy.
• Identify risks and gaps in biomarker plans and develop strategies.
• Translate mechanistic findings into clinically feasible biomarker approaches.
• Collaborate with Discovery, Bioanalytical, and Clinical Pharmacology to translate findings.
• Maintain awareness of emerging biomarker technologies.
• Maintain active laboratory presence, designing and troubleshooting assays.
• Communicate conclusions and limitations clearly.
