Job summary

Merck & Co. seeks a Community Engagement Lead for the West Point site and SEPA region to design and execute a long-range, integrated workforce development and community engagement strategy.

The role connects K-12, technical education, community colleges, and non-traditional pathways to manufacturing needs. You will lead cross-functional teams to scale apprenticeship programs, advance inclusive, skills-first hiring, and measure impact with workforce analytics, ensuring alignment with enterprise

Qualifications

• Required: workforce development, community engagement, public affairs, talent strategy, workforce planning, education partnerships, program management, skills-based hiring, or manufacturing workforce initiatives.
• Experience building workforce pipelines, apprenticeship programs, and educational partnerships.
• Experience with skills-based hiring, diversity and inclusion initiatives, and workforce analytics.

Responsibilities

• Strategic Ecosystem Leadership & External Partnerships: serve as external liaison across regional workforce ecosystems and build partnerships with K-12, technical colleges, and workforce boards.
• Long-Range Biomanufacturing Workforce Strategy & Program Scaling: design, pilot, and scale pathways like apprenticeships and experiential learning.
• Cross-Functional Alignment & Business Integration: lead cross-functional teams to align community initiatives with site planning.
• Championing Inclusive, Skills-First Talent Pathways: promote skills-based hiring and D&I initiatives to expand the talent pool.
• Data-Driven Workforce Planning & Continuous Improvement: define KPIs and translate data into insights for leadership.
