Job summary

Merck is seeking a Community Engagement Specialist to build trusted relationships with patient advocacy groups, CBOs, health departments, and other organizations. The role focuses on non-promotional engagement, collecting insights on access, barriers to care, and community needs, and serving as a bridge between field teams and headquarters.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher with 3+ years in pharma/biotech or public health.
• Strong project management and organizational skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Proven field-based engagement experience.
• Experience with community stakeholders and advocacy groups.

Responsibilities

• Use data, field observations, and qualitative feedback to evaluate engagement effectiveness and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
• Execute community engagement and relationship-building activities aligned to priorities.
• Partner with PI&E leadership in planning related to disease awareness and engagement.
• Contribute to identifying training and capability needs.
• Support field-based segmentation and tracking against defined objectives.
• Leverage insights to identify trends and barriers to care.
• Utilize playbooks, tools, and SOPs to ensure consistency.
• Maintain bi-directional communication between field engagements and headquarters.
• Participate in team engagements and training.
• Ensure all activities comply with legal, regulatory, and non-promotional requirements.
• Use reporting tools to document engagements and monitor performance.
• Identify opportunities to evolve engagement approaches.
