Job description

The Department of Biological Sciences at Seton Hall University is seeking applicants for a full-time academic advising position for undergraduate dual degree and nursing majors. The advisor will be responsible for advising approximately 300 undergraduate students, providing registration PINs, filing necessary paperwork (e.g., Curriculum Adjustment Forms, Course Adjustment Forms, Applications for Overload), meeting with students on grading and academic concerns, assisting at recruitment events, contacting incoming students, and maintaining records of advisement activities.

Orientation and guidance will be provided by the Biology Department's Coordinator for Academic Advising, who will also supply the list of advisees.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Respond promptly to emails, phone calls, or other correspondence from students, faculty, and administrators.
  • Document advising sessions and provide academic and career advising.
  • Participate in recruitment events.
  • Guide the work of others performing similar tasks, including organizing, prioritizing, scheduling, and reviewing work. Note: This role does not include hiring, terminating, performance reviews, or pay decisions.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in an appropriate field of study.
  • 1-3 years of relevant work experience.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in an appropriate field of study.
