Job summary

The School of Biology and Ecology (SBE) at the University of Maine seeks a full-time, 10.5-month Lecturer position (non-tenure track) to join a dynamic introductory undergraduate biology education team in Orono, Maine. The anticipated start date is January 1, 2027, with renewal annually based on performance.

This teaching-focused appointment covers BIO100 and BIO200, online and in-person instruction, advising undergraduates, recruitment and orientation, and service to SBE.

Qualifications

• PhD or Master’s degree in biology or closely related field.
• Significant college-level teaching experience.
• Proven record of high-quality teaching.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• At least two years of teaching first-year biology courses.
• Experience teaching online and in person.
• Commitment to inclusive excellence.

Responsibilities

• Teach BIO 100 and BIO 200, alone or as co-instructor.
• Deliver lectures in large enrollment settings.
• Teach online lower-level biology courses.
• Collaborate to improve introductory biology curricula.
• Advise undergraduate majors and participate in recruitment and orientation.
