Job Overview
Full‑time (12‑month), tenure‑track Professional Assistant (PA) for Nursing, beginning Fall 2026 at Ammerman Campus, Selden, NY.
Responsibilities
- Set up and maintain equipment and supplies for laboratory and clinical simulation sessions.
- Maintain a clean, organized, accessible, and well‑supplied storage room(s).
- Assist in clinical onboarding and orientation of nursing students and faculty under the direction of the academic chair.
- Perform routine equipment maintenance, inventory management, order supplies, manage hazardous waste disposal, coordinate laundering of lines, and supervise lab practice sessions.
- Provide technical assistance and support to faculty.
- Participate actively in departmental, campus, and college committees.
- Complete other duties as assigned by the Academic Chair.
Ideal Candidate
- Able to reinforce foundational nursing skills (vital signs, medication administration, blood administration, sterile technique, wound care, IV therapy, tracheostomy care) through coaching and hands‑on guidance.
- Skilled in guiding and supporting students during open lab practice sessions with constructive feedback.
- Proficient in setting up, operating, and troubleshooting nursing lab/simulation equipment (mannequins, task trainers, instructional technology).
- Strong organization and attention to detail to maintain a clean, safe, well‑stocked lab environment aligned with protocols and standards.
- Consistent safety mindset applying infection control and OSHA practices in daily lab operations.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing.
- Active New York State Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Minimum of one (1) year of clinical RN experience in an acute‑care hospital (inpatient) setting.
- Experience in a nursing role providing support, guidance, or supervision to newly hired nurses, nursing students, and/or unlicensed assistive personnel.
- Proficiency with basic office technology, including Microsoft Word and Excel, for documentation, inventory management, scheduling, and record maintenance.
- Knowledge of infection control principles, OSHA standards, and safe handling of medical equipment and supplies.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a nursing skills lab or simulation lab in a college setting.
- Familiarity with nursing lab and simulation equipment, including mannequins, task trainers, and instructional technology.
- Experience supporting open lab student practice sessions.
- Experience with inventory management systems and the handling, tracking, and organization of lab supplies and equipment.
