Job summary

Anne Arundel Community College is seeking a Biology Lab Assistant to support teaching labs for Human Biology on the Arnold campus. The role involves preparing materials, maintaining lab spaces, and ensuring safety and proper waste handling. 20 hours per week with in-person, on-campus duties.

The position is hourly and temporary, non-exempt, with a flexible year-round schedule aligned to lab timetables. Prior lab experience and basic tech skills are preferred.

Qualifications

• Previous science laboratory related work experience.
• Proficient in computers, iPads, and Microsoft Office.
• Willingness and ability to work a 12 month flexible schedule dependent on lab schedules.
• Reliable, detail oriented, and able to meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
• Ability to work with a diverse group of people.
• Experience with use and maintenance of biology laboratory equipment/instrumentation.
• Ability to use basic tools to perform maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Prepare materials and setup equipment for biology labs and demonstrations.
• Maintain and stock supplies, perform routine housekeeping and minor equipment repairs.
• Follow established safety procedures for chemical and biological waste and electrical equipment.
• Assist faculty and students with equipment, demonstrations, and setups.
• Monitor inventories of equipment, supplies, and chemicals; communicate needs to managers.
• Support with room schedules, errands, records, and cross-training activities.
