Job summary

Ducks Unlimited, Inc. in Bismarck, ND seeks a mid-level Biologist to support a growing wetland mitigation program in the Great Plains. You will help develop innovative projects across wetlands, streams, and water quality, with independence to manage projects from planning to implementation.

Reporting to the Manager of Conservation Programs, you will travel infrequently and work with a collaborative team to deliver compensatory mitigation while advancing DU's ecosystem services emphasis.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant environmental discipline.
• 2-10 years of relevant work experience.
• Valid driver's license and ability to maintain company vehicle privileges.
• Understanding prairie/wetland ecosystems and habitat conservation.
• Excellent communication with landowners, government employees, and professionals.
• Experience with GPS, mobile technologies, and GIS software.
• Proficiency with Word and Excel, ESRI ArcGIS experience.

Responsibilities

• Manage existing wetland mitigation sites and perform habitat management.
• Conduct wetland delineation and post-restoration monitoring/reporting.
• Coordinate with private landowners, leases, and grazing plans.
• Oversee contractors and consultants; manage data entry and GIS databases.
• Identify restoration opportunities and participate in permitting processes.
• Collaborate across teams on mitigation plans and environmental research.
