Job summary

Ducks Unlimited, Inc. seeks a highly motivated Biologist to join the Great Lakes Initiative Team in Dexter, MI or remote (OH).

The role involves developing coastal/inland wetland restoration and protection projects across Ohio, coordinating with biologists, engineers, and land protection professionals to secure funding and implement projects. The candidate will manage multi-program responsibilities, work with partners and landowners, and lead grant writing and reporting efforts while

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Wildlife Biology, Ecology, Environmental Sciences, or related natural resources field with 3-5+ years of directly related experience.
• Experience writing funding proposals and managing grants.
• Strong background in wetland ecology and management with emphasis on restoration, waterfowl and wetland birds.
• Detail oriented and well organized with ability to manage multiple projects and budgets.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills, grounded in collaboration.
• Proficiency in GIS (ArcGIS Online, ArcPro, and Field Maps) and familiarity with state and Federal wetland programs and laws.

Responsibilities

• Develop, coordinate, and implement wetland projects on public and private lands.
• Lead all aspects of wetland restoration planning, project development, and implementation, including funding, mapping, site assessment, and reporting.
• Collaborate with agency partners, DU staff, consultants, and regulators to ensure timely, on-budget delivery.
• Develop and maintain relationships with municipalities, agencies, NGOs, and landowners to advance conservation.
• Write and administer grants and funding proposals to secure project funds.
• Collaborate with science and development teams to manage habitat programs and conservation strategies.
• Work with staff to build and implement conservation programs aligned with DU’s mission.
• Collaborate with Ecosystem Services to advance nature-based solutions.
• Represent DU on groups and support policy objectives.
• Coordinate with Communications, Administrative, and Development staff.
