Job summary

SunCoast Blood Centers in Lakewood Ranch/Bradenton, FL is seeking a full-time Blood Component Processing Support on the 2nd shift (3 p.m.–11:30 p.m.). The role involves receiving blood products, labeling, storing components, and preparing products for distribution under established procedures.

You will follow quality control, maintain safety protocols, manage inventory with leadership input, and participate in onboarding and competency development to grow in the role.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Prior work experience preferred.
• Experience in healthcare, manufacturing, or laboratory environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Receive blood products collected through manual and automated methods.
• Assist in preparing, labeling, and storing blood components under supervision.
• Prepare products for distribution in accordance with established procedures.
• Ensure proper storage and handling of all blood components.
• Follow all quality control procedures and documentation requirements.
• Identify and report discrepancies or concerns to leadership.
• Assist with routine quality control and equipment maintenance activities as directed.
• Assist with stocking, organizing, and maintaining supplies and materials.
• Monitor inventory levels and report needs to leadership.
• Support proper handling and storage of supplies and products.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
• Follow all safety, infection control, and environmental protocols.
• Properly use personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Participate in onboarding, training, and competency development.
• Develop proficiency in component manufacturing processes over time.
• Participate in meetings and training activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support organizational success.

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods
• Ability to lift and move materials up to 30-60 pounds
• Manual dexterity to handle laboratory equipment and blood products

Environmental Requirements

• Laboratory environment with exposure to blood and potentially infectious materials
• Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) required
• Exposure to temperature-controlled environments
