Shepeard Blood in Augusta, GA is seeking a Lab Technician to prepare blood components from donor blood in accordance with FDA and AABB guidelines, ensuring product safety for patients. This role requires ability to work in a laboratory setting and follow SOPs.

Responsibilities include assisting in quality control, adhering to department policies, and supporting team members to deliver high-quality service to donors and hospital partners.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Previous healthcare or laboratory experience.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to function autonomously in a laboratory setting; initiative and dependability.
  • Physical ability to stand for long periods and to lift up to 60 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare blood components from donor blood following standard operating procedures.
  • Assist in quality control function to ensure accuracy and reliability.
  • Adhere to SCBC/department policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Support other team members in the laboratory and Hospital Services, promoting positive customer relations to achieve internal harmony and repeat business.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Under the direction of the Lab Team leader, prepare blood components from donor blood in accordance with FDA and AABB guidelines to ensure the safety of blood products for patient use and further manufacturing.

Qualifications
