Job summary

Avid Bioservices in Costa Mesa, CA is seeking an Associate Scientist, Biologics Formulation Development to lead formulation strategies and execution within Process Development. You will collaborate with Downstream, Analytical Sciences, and external partners to support client programs.

Minimum qualifications include an advanced degree in Biochemistry/C Chemistry and 4–5 years of relevant experience, with hands-on biophysical technique expertise and strong technical writing skills.

Qualifications

• Master’s or PhD in Biochemistry, Chemistry, or related field.
• Experience in formulation development, stability studies, and analytical characterization of biologics.
• Hands-on with biophysical/analytical techniques (DSC, DLS, DSF, CD, HPLC, CE-SDS, UV).
• Strong technical writing and communication skills.
• Ability to thrive in a dynamic, cross-functional environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead formulation development of biologics (mAbs) including pre-formulation, excipient screening, and stability studies.
• Perform protein characterization using analytical techniques and biophysical assays.
• Develop high concentration mAb formulations; address aggregation, viscosity, solubility issues.
• Design experiments, analyze data, and prepare protocols, reports, and development summaries.
• Mentor junior scientists and support onboarding of new team members.
