Job summary

Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center in Seattle is seeking a Laboratory Containment Technician to certify, test, and document biological safety cabinets and containment devices in biosafety facilities. This role supports cancer research operations and ensures compliance with safety standards.

The position involves collaborating with researchers, facilities staff, and vendors to maintain safe lab operations, and requires knowledge of NSF/ANSI 49 and related guidelines as well as strong documentation

Qualifications

• Associate degree in engineering technology, environmental health and safety, or related field.
• 1–2 years of certification/testing experience on biosafety cabinets or lab ventilation devices.
• NSF/ANSI 49 accreditation or ability to obtain within 12 months.

Responsibilities

• Certify, test, and recertify biosafety cabinets, clean benches, laminar flow hoods, and fume hoods.
• Perform field testing and prepare certification reports and records.
• Coordinate schedules with researchers, facilities staff, and vendors.
