Placements24 is seeking a Bioinformatics Scientist to join our advanced research initiatives in Paarl. The role focuses on analyzing large-scale genomic, transcriptomic, and proteomic datasets to uncover biological insights and support drug discovery. You will collaborate with biologists to interpret data and drive research forward, applying ML and statistical methods.

The ideal candidate holds a Ph.D. or Master's in a related field, has strong Python or R skills, and experience with BLAST,

Qualifications

• Ph.D. or Master's degree in a related field.
• Proven experience analyzing diverse biological datasets (genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics).
• Programming with Python or R and bioinformatics libraries.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and interpret large-scale biological datasets using bioinformatics tools and pipelines.
• Develop computational methods for data processing, QC, and statistical analysis.
• Collaborate with experimental teams to design studies and interpret high-throughput results.
• Identify biomarkers and targets through data-driven approaches.
• Visualize and communicate complex findings to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Stay current with advancements in bioinformatics and computational biology.
