Position Summary

Dr. Sung is looking for a Bioinformatics Research Analyst in the Department of Psychiatry. As a Bioinformatics Research Analyst in her lab, the position is in-person and will be located in The NeuroGenomics and Informatics (NGI) Center.

The research conducted in Dr. Sung's lab will potentially help identify novel genes, biomarkers, pathways, and targets associated with Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's Disease, and other neurological traits by performing deep molecular phenotyping (genetics, transcriptomics, proteomics, epigenomics) of human samples. Specifically, as a Bioinformatics Research Analyst, this job requires you to develop computer programs to meet the needs of data collection, quality control, analysis, and report generation, as well as maintain database structure by updating, validating, curating, and harmonizing longitudinal and cross-sectional data from various sources while providing analytical support for internal projects at the NGI Center.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

• Implements: Algorithms and computer software for analyzing omics-based data sets [high-throughput, massively parallel genomic/proteomic/clinical].


• Develops computer programs to meet the needs of data collection, quality control, analysis, and report generation.


• Maintains database structure by updating, validating, curating, and harmonizing longitudinal and cross-sectional data from various sources.


• Coordinates research project with other investigators and institutions.


• Participates in developing hypotheses and experimental design.


• Assists with reporting of methods, data and results.

Working Conditions

• Job Location/Working Conditions: Works in a laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological and chemical hazards. Must be physically able to wear protective equipment and to provide standard care to research animals. Normal office environment.


• Physical Effort: Typically sitting at desk or table. Repetitive wrist, hand or finger movement (PC Typing).


• Equipment: Office equipment.
