Job summary

CAS in Columbus, OH is seeking a Bioinformatician to join the Life Sciences data team. You will analyze, curate, and harmonize complex biological datasets and apply AI/LLM-based approaches to automate repetitive tasks.

Work with scientists and data stewards to turn data into reliable, well‑structured content, develop scalable analytics, create reports, and help advance CAS’s scientific information solutions.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in data science, life sciences, or related field preferred.
• Experience analyzing large biological datasets and interpreting results.
• Familiarity with public biological databases and ontologies (e.g., UniProt, ChEMBL, Gene Ontology).
• Proficiency in SQL and Python or R for data analysis.
• Experience evaluating machine learning models and data modeling.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and validate life sciences datasets; identify errors and gaps.
• Harmonize data using controlled vocabularies and ontologies.
• Query, extract, clean, and transform data to support curation and reporting.
• Integrate data from internal and external sources and perform QC.
• Apply AI/LLM-based approaches to automate tasks and improve workflows.
• Create reports, summaries, and visualizations for stakeholders.
• Collaborate with scientists and data stewards to translate needs into solutions.
• Document processes and data standards.
