Job summary

CAS, headquartered in Columbus, Ohio, seeks an Information Scientist- Organic/Biological Chemist to curate high-quality scientific data across journals, patents and reports. The role supports CAS products and services through database building and literature indexing in an agile setting.

The candidate will work with a global team, apply strong analytical and writing skills, and adapt to diverse languages and sources to maintain CAS’s world-class knowledge resources.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in Organic Chemistry or related field; or a bachelor’s with 1–3 years of related work experience.
• Successful completion of organic chemistry coursework.
• Familiarity with substance naming conventions and structural descriptions of chemical substances.
• Excellent scientific reading comprehension and writing skills.
• Ability to learn policies, work habits, insights, and tool usage from trainers to foster quality and productivity.
• Strong learning agility to quickly learn and apply complex scientific concepts and policies.

Responsibilities

• Provide database building support for chemical and life sciences literature curation into CAS products and services.
• Review documents and indexing structures in a production environment.
