Job summary

The National Biological and Agro-Defense Facility (NBAF) in Manhattan, KS seeks a biosafety operations specialist. You will help ensure biocontainment laboratory facilities and equipment comply with biosafety regulations, standards, and institutional policy.

The role requires experience with HVAC systems, containment equipment, PPE, and working in high-containment environments, including vaccination and health monitoring requirements.

Qualifications

• Specialized Experience: one year at GS-06 level related to HVAC, containment systems and inspections.
• Specialized Experience: one year at GS-07 level related to containment systems operation, maintenance and certification.
• Specialized Experience: one year at GS-08 level related to independent maintenance, inspection and decontamination of containment systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform operational biosafety activities ensuring biocontainment facilities and equipment comply with biosafety regulations and standards.
• Inspect, maintain, test, or repair HVAC devices and containment systems.
• Certify HEPA filtration, biosafety cabinets, and related equipment; manage decontamination needs.
