Job description

A Research Scientist position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Jennifer Surtees to study pathways of DNA metabolism mediated by the mismatch repair ( MMR ) complex Msh2-Msh3. These pathways include post-replicative MMR, double-strand DNA break repair ( DSBR ) and triplet repeat ( TNR ) dynamics using the model system Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The project involves the development of cutting-edge approaches, with a combination of in vitro protein biochemistry and in vivo genetic analysis. The Surtees lab provides a collegial environment and has trained a diverse group of people over the years. We welcome scientists from all backgrounds and we mentor trainees at all levels.

Specific Job Responsibilities include:

  • Testing functional effect of mutations on MMR, 3’ NHTR and TNR pathways in vivo
  • Lab maintenance activities, including ordering, meeting organization database maintenance
