Job summary

The State University of New York at Buffalo's Jacobs School of Medicine, Department of Biochemistry, seeks a Research Technician to support epigenomics projects. You will perform experimental work under the principal investigator and assist students with molecular biology, chromatin biology, and high-throughput sequencing library construction. The position is on-site at Downtown Campus with 9:00 a.m.

to 5:00 p.m. hours.

Qualifications

  • Requires education in Biological Sciences or related topic, and at least one year of experience directly related to molecular biology, chromatin biology and high-throughput sequencing library construction.
  • Hands-on experience with next-generation sequencing library preparation and scripting (Unix command line, R or Python) is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform experimental work under the direction of the principal investigator and support undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Order and general lab maintenance, including maintaining strain, sample and sequencing databases.
  • Plan and perform experiments in molecular biology, chromatin biology and HT sequencing library construction.

Job description

Join a genomics lab building the next generation of tools for reading the epigenome. The laboratory of Dr. William K.M. Lai, in the Department of Biochemistry at the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences seeks a Research Technician to perform experimental work under the direction of the principal investigator and to support the research of undergraduate and graduate students. The position is available this Fall and will include molecular biology, chromatin biology and high-throughput sequencing library construction. The successful candidate must have experience with basic molecular biology and biochemistry techniques. Experience with next-generation sequencing library preparation, mammalian cell culture, protein synthesis, or basic data analysis is a plus. Duties include planning and performing experiments as well as ordering and general lab maintenance, including maintaining strain, sample and sequencing databases. Learn more:

Physical Demands

The position requires regular on-site work in a laboratory setting. The majority of the duties involve benchwork, with some computational work. Occasionally, may move or transport boxes and supplies when orders arrive.

Salary Range

Salary Range $36,000 - $46,000
