Job summary

IDEXX Laboratories, Inc is seeking a Biobank Operations Lead in Westbrook, ME to safeguard specimen integrity and drive Biobank workflows. You will manage daily biobank tasks, coordinate logistics, and shape data standards across teams, ensuring high-quality inventories and compliant documentation.

Responsibilities include system administration for the BSI, process improvements, and cross-functional project leadership.

Qualifications

BS in a life science with 5+ years biorepository or lab operations experience, or equivalent.
Strong knowledge of biospecimen handling, storage, traceability, and workflows.
Experience administering inventory systems; proficient with BSI, Excel, barcode tools.
Translate operational requirements into practical system workflows and clear docs.

Responsibilities

Lead daily Biobank activities: receipt, processing, storage, retrieval, and disposition.
Maintain specimen identity and data alignment with physical inventory.
Serve as system admin for the BSI system, including config, reports, and support.
Ensure data quality through validation, reconciliation, and audits; support labeling workflows.
Manage freezer, fridge, archive, and staging-area organization and capacity planning.
Coordinate incoming/outgoing specimen logistics and shipping reconciliations.
Support programs via specimen selection, prep, pooling, and retrieval.
Develop SOPs and training materials; mentor users and lead cross-team initiatives.
Lead business-hours response to freezer emergencies and continuity planning.
