Job summary

Allied Printing Services, Inc. in Manchester, CT is seeking an Assistant Bindery Supervisor to lead daily bindery operations, support staff, and resolve production challenges.

This hands-on leadership role advances a bindery professional to the next level of supervision while maintaining quality and on-time job completion. You will oversee cutting, folding, stitching, die cutting, gluing, and hand assembly; coordinate staffing and review job tickets; ensure safety and procedure compliance; and

Qualifications

• Experience in commercial printing bindery or finishing operations, with a solid understanding of equipment and production workflows.
• Previous lead, training, or supervisory experience preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret job tickets, production specifications, measurements, and layouts.
• Clear communication skills and a respectful, consistent approach to coaching employees and communicating with bindery supervisor and production departments.

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily bindery operations, including cutting, folding, stitching, die cutting, gluing, and hand assembly.
• Coordinate job assignments and staffing based on production priorities, equipment availability, and employee skills.
• Review job tickets, specifications, schedules, and samples to ensure employees understand production requirements.
• Monitor work in progress, identify bottlenecks, and help adjust workflows to meet deadlines.
• Support equipment setup, troubleshooting, and production problem-solving alongside operators and maintenance.
• Verify quality throughout production, including counts, dimensions, folding, trimming, assembly, and overall finished appearance.
• Train and coach employees on equipment, work procedures, quality expectations, and safe practices.
• Reinforce safety rules, machine guarding requirements, housekeeping standards, and established operating procedures.
• Coordinate with other departments to support smooth job handoffs and timely completion.
• Assist with production records, waste tracking, and shift-to-shift communication.
• Provide department leadership in the supervisor’s absence, as assigned.
