Job Title: Material Handler I

Department: Pressroom

Reports to: Supervisor

Position Summary

Moves material by hand from machinery or loads and unloads materials to and from machinery, presses, and pallets.

Responsibilities

• Read work orders to determine which materials are to be moved.
• Load and unload materials from pallets manually.
• Transport materials from storage or work sites to designated areas.
• Attach identification tags or labels to materials and mark information on containers.
• Stack materials into bundles and band them together, using wrist flexing motions.
• Maintain a clean work area, perform minor repairs, and assist machine operators.
• Perform basic clerical functions as needed.
• Assist with equipment setup and web up of press.
• Potentially lead or train other material handlers.
• Follow all safety policies and procedures, including handling hazardous waste and lockout/tagout protocols.
• Perform other duties and participate in projects as assigned.

Job Knowledge & Skills

Ability to work effectively in a team environment is required.

Scope of Responsibility

Grade level depends on skills, knowledge, and supervision requirements.
