Job description

Allegra Marketing Print Mail in Plymouth, Michigan, is a full-service commercial printer serving local, regional, and national clients. We are looking for a Bindery Operator for our 2nd shift (2pm-10pm) and 3rd shift (10pm-6am) to join our growing team, embracing our core values: passion for success, teamwork, respect, and integrity.

If you thrive in a fast-paced production environment, have keen attention to detail, and are familiar with printing, bindery/finishing (folders, cutters, booklet makers, mailing equipment, and more) or eager to learn, this position may be right for you.

JOB DUTIES:

• Set up and operate bindery machines, such as folding, scoring, and die-cutting machinery.
• Read work orders to determine instructions and specifications for machine setup.
• Install or adjust bindery machine devices, such as knives, guides, rollers, rounding forms, creasing rams, or clamps.
• Examine stitched, collated, bound, or unbound product samples for defects, such as imperfect bindings, ink spots, torn pages, loose pages, or uncut threads.
• Maintain records, such as daily production logs, using specified forms.
• Lubricate, clean, or make minor repairs to machine parts to keep machines in working condition.
• Punch holes in and fasten paper sheets, signatures, or other materials using hand or machine punches and staplers.
• Experience with equipment like MBO pile feed folders, Stahl continuous feed folders, Muller Martini saddle stitcher, Polar cutter, Heidelberg cylinder die cutters, Dick Moll folder gluer, or laminator is a plus but not required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Mechanical aptitude
• Commercial bindery experience is preferred but not required; on-the-job training is available.
