Purpose
This position is a key member of the bindery team responsible for all finishing activities (cutting, folding, perfing, padding, collating, counting, saddle-binding, etc.) required on the department's printing orders.
Responsibilities
- The primary responsibility of this position is the proper setup, operation, and maintenance of digital bindery equipment including booklet maker, creaser, punch units, collator, laminator, cutter, etc., and handwork.
- Performs most job functions independently and without close supervision, following written specifications from individual job tickets regarding binding methods, packaging requirements, and delivery instructions.
- The employee seeks supervisory input when instructions are unclear or incomplete and when unusual situations arise. Supervisory guidance received is usually in the form of priority changes or requests to fill in on other equipment operations.
- Maintain a regular flow of information concerning daily activities and division status to the Assistant Director.
- Ensure that contact with all department and University personnel, customers, and external vendors, is consistently courteous and respectful.
- Assist other employees assigned to bindery and the production areas as needed to ensure correct and timely job output.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
High School or GED. Three years of work experience. Familiarity with the different types of bindery equipment. Ability to adapt to change and maintain flexibility. Demonstrated ability to receive direction, cooperate with supervisors, co-workers and work independently.
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications
Over three years of direct work experience in a university setting.
Driving Required
This job requires a class "C" operator's driver's license. The applicant selected must provide a current three-year driving record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, a Texas driver's license must be obtained within 30 days of becoming a Texas resident. Employees who are required to have a CDL are subject to drug and alcohol testing (pre-employment, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, random, return-to-duty, and follow-up drug and alcohol testing).
Salary Range
$41,080 + depending on qualifications

Work Shift
- 6:30 AM - 3:30 PM
- May be required to work overtime, including weekends during peak periods.

Employment Eligibility:

Retirement Plan Eligibility:
The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
