PD Instore in Minneapolis, MN is seeking a Bindery Technician to operate and maintain bindery equipment, including cutting, folding, banding, and tapping machines. Qualifications

• Associate or trade school in graphic arts or printing and prepress technology.
• Minimum 1-3 years bindery experience.
• First shift (Day) - Full Time.

Responsibilities

• Examine job orders to define work direction.
• Enter cutting positions in proper order into computer memory.
• Load sheets of paper on the cutter bed and align.
• Activate computer to move sheets into first cut position.
• Examine cut material for imperfections and adjust as needed.
• Remove material from cutter bed and stack on pallets for shipment.
• Record job information on load tags and time sheets.
• Change knives and lubricate per manufacturer specs.
• Run Stahl folder with continuous feed and apply tape where needed.
• Foster a culture valuing family, innovation, collaboration and empowerment.
• Follow all safety and workplace policies.

Summary

Bindery Technicians are responsible for maintaining and operating bindery and other related machines. Most work is done by machinery so bindery operators must be able to work with cutting, folding, banding, and tapping machines. Bindery technicians are responsible for the overall performance of the machinery to produce quality products that meet client needs.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

• Examine job orders to define work direction


• Enter cutting positions in proper order into computer memory.


• Load sheets of printed or unprinted paper on the cutter bed. Jog and align sheets against the cutter guide in preparation for cutting.


• Activate computer to move sheets into first cut position. Activate double hand switches to begin cutting operation.


• Examine cut material for any imperfections and adjust computer program as needed.


• Remove material from the cutter bed and stack on pallets for shipment to the customer or next operation.


• Record job information on load tags and time sheets.


• Change knives and lubricate as recommended by manufacturers specifications.


• Run a Stahl folder with continuous feed and apply tape to material with a roller tape machine.


• Foster a culture that values family, innovation, collaboration, and empowerment.


• Follow all safety and workplace policies.

Minimum Education Required

Associate or trade School degree in graphic arts and or printing and prepress technology.
