Job summary

Baker Group in Ankeny, IA is seeking an Electrical BIM/VDC Technician I to support the detailing team in creating 3D electrical models and coordination drawings. You will develop relationships with internal teams and clients, and help grow the Client for Life ethos through accurate, timely deliverables.

The role requires AutoCAD, Revit, and BOM work, site visits for laser scans, and collaboration across disciplines to meet project deadlines while expanding knowledge of electrical construction

Qualifications

• Associate degree or certificate from an accredited two-year college.
• Minimum of one year of experience with AutoCAD.
• Experience with AutoCAD Plant 3D, Revit, and Navisworks is preferred but not required.
• Experience working with Construction Drawings and Electrical Drawings is preferred but not required.
• Thorough knowledge of process piping is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing 3D models and basic building components using Revit and AutoCAD.
• Perform light modeling tasks to support project design and coordination efforts.
• Create detailed construction drawings, including coordination and installation drawings.
• Generate Bills of Material (BOM) to support project needs.
• Utilize Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook) for documentation and communication.
• Apply foundational knowledge of Autodesk tools, including Revit and AutoCAD, in daily project work.
• Collaborate with team members to support project deliverables and deadlines.
• Visit jobsites to complete laser scans and integrate data into the BIM model.
• Assist Database Lead with maintaining Electrical BIM Database.
• Increase knowledge of electrical construction methods and detailing.

PURPOSE

The Electrical BIM/VDC Technician I will support the electrical detailing project team with the development of 3D electrical models and assist in producing coordination and installation drawings. This person will create and develop relationships supportive of the Baker Group Core Focus with internal team members and external clients, as well as maintain and grow the “Client for Life” concept with new and existing clients.Performs related work as required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist in the development of 3D models and basic building components using Revit and AutoCAD Software

MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Associate’s degree/diploma/certificate from an accredited two-year college.
• Minimum of one year of experience with AutoCAD software.
• Experience with AutoCAD Plant 3D, Revit, and Navisworks is preferred but not required.
• Experience working with Construction Drawing and Electrical Drawings is preferred but not required.
• Thorough knowledge and understanding of process piping is preferred but not required.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

• Valid driver’s license

MENTAL AND PHYSICAL COMPETENCIES REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Must be proficient in AutoCAD, Excel, Bluebeam, and Outlook
• Ability to read construction documents, product literature, specifications and cut sheets
• Strong mechanical aptitude and good math skills
• Proven ability to partner with design teams and field personnel
• Ability to work on multiple projects and multi-task effectively

ENVIRONMENTAL ADAPTABILITY

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk working on a computer
• Must be able to lift 10 pounds occasionally
• May have occasional visits to a job site which would require periods of standing, walking and/or climbing stairs
• Occasional exposure to variety of temperature, weather and construction site conditions
