Job description

BIM CoordinatorHelp Drive Complex Construction Projects from Model to Reality

We're seeking a BIM Coordinator who thrives at the intersection of design, technology, and construction. In this role, you'll play a critical part in transforming design intent, contract documents, and 3D mechanical and piping system models into detailed fabrication and installation-ready BIM models.

Working alongside project managers, engineers, contractors, and field teams, you'll help coordinate projects from planning through installation while ensuring accuracy, constructability, and collaboration across all trades. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys problem-solving, coordination, and leveraging BIM technology to support successful project delivery.

What You’ll DoBIM Coordination & Modeling
  • Develop detailed fabrication and installation models for mechanical and plumbing systems using BIM fabrication software.

  • Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and design teams to produce LOD 400 BIM models.

  • Coordinate with general contractors and trade partners to resolve clashes and achieve effective multi-trade coordination.

  • Attend coordination meetings, both virtually and onsite, to support project progress and issue resolution.

  • Generate RFIs when clarification is needed from the design team.

Construction Documentation & Project Support
  • Manage and review project drawings, specifications, submittals, and vendor-specific models.

  • Create detailed shop drawings for fabrication and installation.

  • Produce hanger, sleeve, and coordination drawings and export layout coordinates for robotic total station use.

  • Work closely with field personnel to ensure fabrication and installation intent is clearly communicated and executed.

  • Maintain current project information and documentation throughout each phase of the project.

Team Collaboration
  • Support project teams in meeting deadlines and project milestones.

  • Assist with training and knowledge-sharing related to modeling and collaboration software.

  • Collaborate with fellow BIM professionals to maintain quality standards and improve project efficiency.

  • Contribute ideas and feedback regarding software, hardware, and workflow improvements.

  • Pursue ongoing learning and professional development to stay current with industry tools and best practices.

What You’ll Bring
  • 3+ years of experience in BIM coordination, mechanical systems modeling, piping systems, or a related discipline.

  • Proficiency with Revit.

  • Strong understanding of construction documentation and mechanical/plumbing systems.

  • Ability to read and interpret project schedules, drawings, specifications, and technical information.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment.

  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities.

  • Comfortable presenting information and collaborating with internal and external project teams.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Navisworks or other BIM coordination platforms.

  • Ability to distinguish between colors used within BIM and coordination models.

  • Professional, team-oriented approach with strong interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to remain organized and effective when managing project demands and deadlines.

Why Consider This Opportunity?
  • Work on technically challenging projects across industries including life sciences, pharmaceutical manufacturing, and data centers.

  • Collaborate with experienced engineers, project teams, and trade partners on high-impact construction projects.

  • Join a team that has successfully embraced remote collaboration and BIM-driven project delivery for more than a decade.

  • Enjoy a flexible work arrangement with a blend of remote work and onsite collaboration.

  • Be part of a supportive, team-focused environment that values innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.

  • Opportunity to contribute to projects throughout North Carolina while expanding your technical and coordination expertise.

Work Environment

This position is based out of Raleigh, NC, and offers a flexible hybrid schedule, typically consisting of 3-4 days remote and 1-2 days onsite or in the office. You'll work closely with a collaborative team that values technology-driven solutions, open communication, and professional growth.

Key Improvements Made
  • Changed the title from BIM Specialist to BIM Coordinator to better align with the level of responsibility.

  • Removed "mid-to-senior level" language and positioned the role as an experienced coordinator rather than a senior-level leader.

  • Shifted the focus from overseeing staff to project coordination, collaboration, and technical expertise.

  • Organized responsibilities into logical sections for readability and stronger candidate engagement.

  • Emphasized project impact, technology, flexibility, and growth opportunities without adding information not included in the original description.
