Job description

Job Title: BIM Specialist Electrical (Data Center Project)Job Description

The BIM Specialist Electrical supports a large data center construction project by transforming electrical designs, redlines, and field information into accurate 3D Revit models and coordinated construction documents. In this onsite role, you collaborate closely with multiple construction trades to ensure all electrical systems are fully coordinated and constructible before installation. You work in a fast-paced project environment, contributing directly to the successful delivery of a complex, high-profile data center over the next 12 months and beyond.

Responsibilities

  • Build, develop, and update detailed electrical 3D models in Revit for a data center project.

  • Model electrical systems including power distribution, lighting, low voltage, and extra-low voltage systems.

  • Use Navisworks to perform clash detection between electrical systems and other trades, identifying and helping resolve coordination issues.

  • Coordinate electrical layouts with mechanical, plumbing, structural, and architectural teams to ensure all systems fit within the building prior to installation.

  • Create and revise construction drawings, shop drawings, plans, sections, and details based on project needs and model updates.

  • Incorporate redlines, RFIs, field markups, and design changes into the electrical models and associated documentation in a timely and accurate manner.

  • Ensure models are constructible and practical from a field installation standpoint, not just correct from a design perspective.

  • Work within established BIM standards and meet LOD 300400 requirements for model detail and documentation.

  • Collaborate with project stakeholders in an onsite environment to support coordination meetings and resolve modeling issues.

  • Support continuous improvement of BIM processes and standards within the project team.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in BIM, electrical design and drafting, or construction coordination.

  • Strong proficiency with Autodesk Revit, including Revit MEP, for electrical 3D modeling and documentation.

  • Hands-on experience working specifically with electrical systems in a construction or design environment.

  • Proven ability to produce or work from electrical construction and shop drawings.

  • Solid understanding of construction coordination and constructability principles, especially in MEP environments.

  • Experience using Navisworks for clash detection and multidisciplinary coordination.

  • Ability to model and coordinate low voltage and extra-low voltage systems.

  • Comfort working in a fast-paced project setting and independently managing modeling tasks with minimal supervision.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with BIM standards and Level of Development (LOD) 300400 requirements.

  • Background in MEP coordination and construction document production.

  • Familiarity with data center projects or mission-critical facilities is a plus.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to interpret redlines, RFIs, and field markups accurately.

  • Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with cross-functional design and construction teams.

  • Ability to adapt to changing project requirements and priorities while maintaining high-quality deliverables.

  • Interest in long-term growth within a project team and seeing complex projects through to completion.

Work Environment

This role is primarily onsite at a large data center construction project, working from a dedicated project trailer within an active construction area. The environment is fast-paced, with close collaboration among electrical, mechanical, plumbing, structural, and architectural teams. Standard work weeks average around 50 hours, with the ability to work up to 10-hour days and occasional 8-hour Saturdays, depending on project demands. There may be opportunities to perform some tasks remotely when appropriate, while core coordination and collaboration activities occur onsite. You will work with tools such as Autodesk Revit, Revit MEP, Navisworks, and other standard BIM and construction documentation platforms in a professional, construction-focused setting that emphasizes teamwork, coordination, and project delivery.
